Art Canvas Swap

I'm part of a small group of friends who a few times a year do different themed swaps.  We are currently swapping canvases with each other.  Our first one was a 4 x 4 and I received this from my crafting bestie, Trent.  He did sewing for mine as it is my favorite theme.

The next round we decided to go with any size as long as it wasn't bigger that 8 x 10.  I received an awesome Steampunk themed canvas from Lori.  She made the frame to house the 5 x 7 rigid canvas.  How awesome is that!!!

So, the two that I have made so far are the 4 x 4 for Wanda.  This is kind of like an exploded piece of paper.  I like how it turned out.

The last one I just finished is for a dear friend Nancy.  I saw this cool technique online and decided to do something that I have never done before.  I was nervous about venturing out of my normal box but we all have to grow at sometime.  I was impressed if I do say so myself about the outcome.

Our next venture is to do #10 manila tags in an art journaling style.  Again, I am going to have to go out of my comfort zone and try something new.  I will post the results of that when they are done.  Thanks for stopping by.

Tattered Floral Challenge with Tim Holtz

How embarrassing to go and make this post and see that it has been over a year since I last posted.  Where is the time going???

Anyway, Tim Holtz is hosting a challenge on his blog to use his Tattered Floral die and create some flowers.  I used my most favorite paper, 7 Gypsies "Olde Curiosity Shoppe".  I made the flowers and then cut out other elements of the paper collection to make this arrangement.  I love how it turned out!

Grungy Monday Wearable Art

Wow!  It's been a whole year since I have posted to my blog.  Not really because I haven't been creating art, but because life has gotten in the way.

I just spent President's Day Weekend with two great friends, Lori and Nancy .  We spent the time shopping, eating and creating great art.  One of the projects I supplied was Tim's Pocket Watch.  We covered a piece of dictionary paper with some UTEE and then added in other bits and pieces.  I dug in my stash and found Tim's original doo-dads that he came out with in I think 2004.  Lori supplied the clown charm and this is my final project.  It worked out perfect for the Grungy Monday challenge over at Studio L3.  I haven't entered a challenge in quite a long time but Lori told me about it, so I hope you like my piece of wearable art!

Valentine Tag & Card Revealed

I never get the time to post to my blog with work getting in the way and the fact that most of the time, I forget to take pictures of the things I make before I give them away.  I remembered to take a picture of the tag I made for the All Things Tim 'Red & White' swap and then the card version I made to give to my loved ones.
So, I made the heart myself after seeing the same thing at Archivers for an outrageous price.  I just cut two pieces of canvas and then broke out the sewing machine and ran a simple stitch around the edge.  To get it "ruffed" up on the edges, I put them in the washing machine in a little garment bag and ran it through the rinse cycle, then ran them through the dryer.  They came out exactly how I wanted them.  I then used a blending tool to add color to the edge and stamped Tim's Cupid on it, then attached them with a heart pin that I bought at least 5 years ago! (Everyting has a purpose sooner or later!)
I hope the people who received them, enjoyed them.

Oh, Happy Day!!!

So glad to get home today from work because in my mailbox was the prize I won from Tim Holtz!  On Halloween day, if we left a comment on his blog with your favorite candy, we had a chance to win.  Out of I think over 1300 comments, he picked 13, and I was one of them!
Mario shipped it out right away and I received the Witch Die, Halloween tissue tape, one of the cool skeletons Tim uses in his Configurations and 3 pieces of candy corn...YES candy corn!  I had to laugh when I found that in the box.  I can't wait to make something with these items even though it isn't Halloween anymore!

Halloween Card

Here is my card for Halloween this year.  I used Tim's rickety house die, tree texture fade and brick wall texture fade.  Everything is grunged up and then I covered it with crinkled organza.  Kind of gives it a foggy look.  Hope you like it.
